| Ofsted guidance
This guidance on inspectiing EAL is taken from the September 2008 newsletter with the gripping title "Schools and Inspection". The new Ofsted search engine is so bad that if you type in "EAL" or "Inspecting EAL", it will declare "no result", so we thought we would put it here so that you can copy it and show it to your headteacher. A much friendlier approach to finding official documents has been set up by Portsmouth EMAS providing links to all the principal government documents and reports of recent years. Go to http://www.blss.portsmouth.sch.uk/default.htm and then in the quick search facility (top right hand corner) click on Advice recent key documents. How to join "EAL bilingual" This is a forum/email list for EAL teachers which can put you in touch with useful advice about everything related to the teaching of EAL. The forum members are very helpful and it does not matter how simple or complicated your question is. You will be sure to get a useful answer or the admission that we don't know the answer! To join the list, send an email to majordomo@ngfl.gov.uk. Make sure to leave the space for ‘Subject’ blank. In the body of the message simply write the following words: "subscribe eal-bilingual". You can depart from the mailing list in the same way but by writing "unsubscribe" Currently this forum is still working but we expect it to be closed soon. We have set up a Google group details on how to join are on the Collaborative Learning newsletter pages. Until we spend more time on this page please go to Insted who provide lots more useful links! |
